Government of India announces the project for setting up IT Education Center of Excellence in a SICA country at the INDO-SICA Meeting of Foreign Ministers in Honduras

Jan 2006 Kick off Meeting
On advice of MEA, Government of India, Mr. Jagtar Singh from TCS-India visited to kick start the IT Centre Project and discuss offering for the IT Centre in Guatemala. Officials from CONCYT, USAC, Foreign Office and representative from CLUSTER organizations participated in the meeting.

Visit of Mr.Harish Awasthi from TCS-India to Review and supervise the IT CoE Academic operations.

24th July 2008
India- Guatemala IT Centre Project Handover: As per the project plan Govt of India authorized TCS to implement the IT Centre setup and run the Training Program by 3 TCS consultants in this IT Centre of Excellence for 2 years of period w.e.f July 2006. On 24th July the project is handed over to USAC officials to take it forward.

Objective
  • Help Guatemala in human capacity building for developing Information Technology by providing IT training to people from different sectors viz. Education, Government, Industry etc.
  • Development of specialized skills will help in the growth of the use of IT in various sectors of the economy and governance in Guatemala
